An enterprising redditor has found what appears to be a pretty great deal through various shopping portals.  You can get 2200 American AAdvantage miles for a purchase at web hoster 1&1 through the American shopping portal.

1-1-shopping-portal

1&1 has a 30 day free trial available, so while you do have to put in a credit card for payment, you shouldn’t have to actually pay anything as long as you cancel before the 30 days is up.  You do NOT need to sign up for a domain name, and if you do (for 99 cents), it is NOT refundable.  Just sign up for the 30 day trial, put in your information, and proceed with the order.  I selected only one month instead of the annual plan just in case I forgot to cancel.  The cancel link is at http://my.1and1.com/ContractAutorenew

Other programs also available

Because the shopping portals are all run by the same company, it should be no surprise that other programs are also available.  It appears that you can also choose to get your choice of

  • Alaska Air: 1800 miles
  • United: 1900 miles
  • AA: 2200 miles
  • Barclay: 2500 miles
  • Southwest: 1800 miles

My suspicion is that you could not get miles if you signed up for all 6 of these at once, but give it a try if you want!

But will the miles post?

Dunno.  It’s certainly possible that if/when you cancel the 30 day trial that the miles will be clawed back from the portal.  If you wanted to, you could just purchase one month for $12.99 and cancel afterwards.  Personally, I signed my wife and I up both up and plan on canceling in a few days and will just roll the dice that the miles were post.
