Alaska Airlines have been busy this month, with big news coming out nearly every week. After the announcement of new nonstop domestic routes, Alaska Airlines announced last week that it is adding Germany’s Condor as a new MileagePlan partner.

Alaska Condor Partnership

Founded in 1955, Condor is a leisure airline based in Frankfurt Germany. A subsidiary of Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Condor is the third largest airline in Germany based on fleet size and passengers flown. Condor’s long-haul flights are mostly operated on its Boeing 767-300ER aircrafts, featuring business class with nearly lie-flat seats, premium economy and economy class.

Condor flies nonstop from Frankfurt to 11 cities in  the U.S. including Seattle, Anchorage, Austin, Baltimore, Fairbanks,  Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Portland, and San Diego, and 5 cities in Canada including Toronto; Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax and Whitehorse. Condor will be adding new nonstop service from Munich to Las Vegas in May and Seattle in June.

MileagePlan members can start earning miles on Condor flights and miles flown will count towards MileagePlan status. Redemption will be introduced at a later day. Below is the MileagePlan earning chart for flights operated by Condor:

I think the Alaska-Condor partnership makes great sense. The partnership gives Alaska flyers, especially those living on the west coast, another option to Europe in addition to British Airways and Air France.

Have you ever flown Condor before?
