According to the current rules and best practices of signups, you can only get a welcome bonus ONCE with American Express cards, per card.  So if you’ve already gotten a bonus for a particular card, if you apply for it again, you won’t get it again.  Depending on how long you’ve been in the miles and points world, there are many folks who are “running out” of American Express cards that they haven’t had before.  In that case, I thought I’d bring your attention to the American Express Ameriprise Gold Card

You can access the public offer for the American Express Ameriprise Gold card offer here. (thanks to Mile Nerd)

This offer does NOT pay me a commission.  As you can see, there is a signup bonus of 25,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $1000 in the first 3 months, and the annual fee is waived for the first year.  It gets 2x on travel purchases and of course, access to lucrative Amex Offers.

It is targeted to clients of Ameriprise Financial, but it is not a requirement to be a client to have the card.

Separate card from the “other” Amex Gold Cards

Many folks are familiar with the American Express Ameriprise PLATINUM card, which was the first Amex Platinum card I ever got.

Normally the Ameriprise Amex Platinum card comes with a $450 fee, but the Ameriprise version does NOT have an annual fee (for the first year).  It also usually doesn’t have a signup bonus, though there was a 25,000 bonus for a limited time this year.  The thing to note is that the Ameriprise Platinum card is different than the “regular” Amex Platinum (that had the 100,000 point offer a few months ago) and different from the Mercedes-Benz Platinum, etc.  So you’re eligible for a bonus on EACH of these cards.

It is my understanding that the same thing works with the Amex Gold cards – this Ameriprise Gold Card is different than the REGULAR American Express Gold Card as well as the Amex Premier Gold Card (PRG).  This signup bonus of 25,000 is I believe a fairly regular bonus, but if you hadn’t heard of it or considered it, or thought you were tapped out of Amex cards, it is worth considering for the signup bonus.
