I hope everyone has been enjoying the Daily Getaways (or at least tolerating them!) Don’t worry if you hate them – this is the last week so before too long you won’t have to see any more about them until 2017! 🙂
This week only has 3 days of offers
First of all, let’s start with the easy ones.
If you’ve been following along with my analysis of Daily Getaways, you probably know that I do NOT recommend any of the Las Vegas themed deals. IMO there are FAR better ways to get “luxury” hotels at a fraction of the cost

Tuesday’s deal on Marriott e-gift certificates is also pretty straightforward. If you have a pattern of many stays at Marriott hotels, and are paying cash, then getting an extra 20% off on those stays is probably a good idea. The downside to locking this in is that unless you KNOW you’re staying at Marriott, having these e-gift certificates might make you stay at a Marriott when there are cheaper non-Marriott options available. I looked through the terms and conditions of the Marriott card and it did appear you did not have to use them all at once (unlike the Orbitz deal from a few weeks ago)
The Monday Daily Getaways – 2 deals on Avis
Today’s deal is about Avis and there are 2 separate deals
One is a one day car rental for $30, and you can buy up to 7 of them. This can definitely be under the price for a daily car rental in some areas, but I think you would still be better off with Autoslash. I’ve used Autoslash several times before and it can regularly save well over 50% on a car rental

The other deal today is for Avis Chairman’s Club membership for a year. These cost $1,115 and there are only 15 packages available. These have been available every year that there has been a Daily Getaways, and from what I’ve seen, they’ve always gone FAST! So if you want one of these, I’d be ready on the computer at 1PM Eastern sharp!
Now, I don’t think this is the type of deal for me ($1,115 is a LOT) but if you are a frequent traveler, it may be something to consider. Chairman’s Club is an invite-only level of membership with no published qualifications. Here is the Flyertalk thread on the levels of Avis membership .
Chairman’s Club offers, among other things
- Free upgrade to the “best car” on the lot (with some exceptions) (SEE ALSO: Why you’re foolish to rent a “standard” car)
- They will pick you up and deliver you back to the airport terminal
- They will fuel you up at the market price so you don’t have to get gas on your way back
