For the past many months, I have been paying my mortgage(s) via Plastiq with my Citi AT&T Access More card.  The 3x ThankYou points were in mind enough to offset the fees Plastiq charges, not to mention any fee fee dollars you were able to accumulate through referrals

While you can no longer sign up for the AT&T Access More card, you have been able to get the card through product changing.

Citi AT&T Access More devaluation

Unfortunately, as with most good things, it appears that this has come to an end.  Here’s an email I just got.

The categories eligible to earn 3x ThankYou Points for purchases made with your AT&T Access More card are being updated. Beginning July 22, 2017, you’ll only receive 1 point, not 3x points, for every $1 spent online on the purchase or reloading of gift cards or on rental and real estate payments.

Please note, you’ll still earn 3x points on every $1 spent on purchases made online at eligible retail and travel websites, including department and warehouse websites, online travel agencies and airline websites.

The end of usefulness for the AT&T Access More card

This is just about the end of usefulness for the Citi AT&T Access More card as far as I’m concerned.  There could still be some value if you’re doing any product reselling or a lot of online purchases, but that doesn’t fit my spending habits.  I gave up on product reselling after a disastrous experiment

(SEE ALSO: My experiences reselling $3,709.06 through Amazon)

You’ll need to do a lot of spending on this card if you want to keep it, given that it comes with an annual fee of $95.  You do get 10,000 ThankYou points on your anniversary if you spend $10,000 in the year, which I have been able to do through mortgage payments.  Given this recent change / devaluation, this would not be one of the cards with annual fees that I would recommend keeping.

I actually had 2 ATTAM cards and just closed one of them last week due to the annual fee hitting.  I will make my July 1 and August 1 mortgage payments with Plastiq / ATTAM (before mid-July) and then put this card back in the sock drawer

I can’t say I’m surprised as I’m sure Citi was paying a disproportionate amount of its 3x ThankYou points for online purchases to Plastiq and for gift card purchases.

What about you?  Are you planning on keeping your AT&T Access More card, given the recent news?
