Earlier today, we covered the new Priority Pass guest policy for the American Express Platinum, but it’s not enough to discuss it in a vacuum–what’s important is how it stacks up against its major competitors: the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Citi Prestige.

American Express Platinum Priority Pass Guest Policy

As discussed above, with the American Express Platinum, the new Priority Pass guest policy allows the primary card holder to bring in up to two guests fee free, which could save you up to $54 per visit, should you bring two guests with you.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Priority Pass Guest Policy

Unlike the American Express Platinum, the Chase Sapphire Reserve does not limit the number of guests you can bring into a Priority Pass lounge with you. Traveling with 99 of your closest friends? Technically, the CSR let’s you bring them all in for free; however, the lounge has the right to limit the number of guests you can bring in with you. All Sapphire Reserve authorized users also get their own Priority Pass membership.

Citi Prestige Priority Pass Guest Policy

Citi-priority pass guest policy

Like the American Express Platinum, the Prestige allows you to bring up to two guests with you to any Priority Pass lounge for free. What the Prestige offers that the Platinum doesn’t has to do with authorized users: Prestige authorized users also get their own Priority Pass membership, which means that in effect, a whole family of six could get in a Priority Pass lounge for free!

Priority Pass guest policy conclusion

While all three cards allow two free guests, the benefits of the Sapphire Reserve and the Prestige outweigh the Platinum, which offers the most basic Priority Pass guest policy. If I were to rank these cards in the order of the most useful Priority Pass membership, I would say:

  1. Chase Sapphire Reserve
  2. Citi Prestige
  3. American Express Platinum

What do you think? Did I miss something when looking at these three cards’ Priority Pass guest policy? Let me know below!
