Breaking news this morning as reports out of the Wall Street Journal seem to indicate that a Germanwings plane (an Airbus A320) enroute from Barcelona to Dusseldorf has crashed in the French Alps.  It is feared that the 148 passengers and crew are dead – French President Hollande said in a statement that “The conditions of the accident suggest there are no survivors”.

If confirmed, this is of course a terrible tragedy.  Germanwings is a subsidiary of Lufthansa, and Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr made the following statement on Twitter
