I wrote a few days ago about the IHG Share Forever promotion, which is IHG’s summer promotion.  Late last night, I finally got the word that the site was up and running.  I’ve been having tons of problems actually logging in but, after like 7000 refreshes, was able to get in to see my offer

IHG Share Forever promotion start date – not until May 1st

The original email I got suggested that the promotion would go “live” on April 20th

While the promotion doesn’t start until Monday, April 20

It turns out that was just for the launch page – for the IHG Share Forever promotion itself, you won’t get any credit for stays until May 1st.  From the official terms and conditions:

Program Participants only receive credit for a Qualified Hotel Night Stay that occur on or after 1 May 2015 at 12:00 a.m., U.S. Eastern Time (UTC -5) and no later than 7 September 2015 at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time (UTC -5) (the “Offer Period”)

As expected, it will count as a stay for IHG Share Forever if it would normally count for points (no award stays – and cash and points stays don’t count, either)

My take on IHG Share Forever

ihg-share-forever-promotionThis promotion is….. pretty underwhelming.  While it’s definitely worth registering for (Ben at One Mile at a Time got 5000 points just for registering!), I doubt that this should drive very many hotel stays for people.

You’re looking at about an extra 1000-4000 points per night, which isn’t chump change, but isn’t particularly lucrative either.  Especially compared to promotions like Into the Nights, where you could get 2 free nights (or 50,000 points!) for as little as 4 or 5 stays. Remember that the points “to share” can just be used in your own account, but even still you’re not getting a ton of points.

Unless maybe your offer is better than mine!
