So the other day a link came out where you could refer a friend to get the Chase Ink card with a 70,000 point signup bonus and all of a sudden the world exploded with everyone jumping over themselves to post their referral link. Seeing it on every blog post was bad enough, but what killed me even more was everyone going nuts in the comments posting their links!! Then the blogger affiliate links came out and it got even more ridiculous
Pumping
Pumping is probably a strong word that doesn’t apply to all people who posted links – maybe “promoting” is a better one? I have a post I wrote a few months ago with a link to my refer-a-friend link for the Southwest Airlines 50,000 point signup bonus.
At the time, I was not aware of any non-referral link to the offer, so I wrote it because I suspected that there were lots of people out there looking for the link with the increased signup bonus. In fact, it remains one of my most Googled posts ever and I actually got the maximum 10 people to sign up through my link (thanks to whoever you were!!). I was totally shocked when I saw the points show up on my statement 🙂
The Card
Love the Chase Ink card. I got one as part of my very first credit card churn. And while I recently canceled mine (since they wouldn’t let me downgrade it), my wife got one with a 60,000 point signup bonus a few weeks ago.
It really is one of the best cards out there.
The Deal
This deal comes with 70,000 points after spending $5000 in the first 3 months. The annual fee of $95 is not waived the first year.

So there are lots of referral links out there, and while I understand people’s desire to post about them and hope to get some free Chase Ultimate Rewards, that’s just not what I’d like to do at this point. I try to blog to help out families, and while I like making money the same as the rest, I also have a real job and am not counting on blog money to live on (yet!)
