I saw today that Dan from DansDeals.com is throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at Game 7 of tonight’s World Series between the Indians and Cubs.  I wrote a few weeks ago about how Starwood had a number of different sales and auctions of baseball related prizes (including World Series tickets).  Dan won the auction to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at tonight’s game

The total price….

1,060,500 SPG points (!)

While I’m not sure I’d pay that much (if I even had that much), I do strongly believe that points are meant to be spent, and the best way to spend miles and points (or any type of “currency” is to make memories, and this is undoubtedly going to be QUITE the memory (especially if the Indians pull off the win in Game 7!)

(SEE ALSO: How I got a million miles… and you can too!)

People often value SPG points at around 2 cents per point, which would put a value on this experience at around $20,000, though I think a better valuation would be how much it would cost you to MS that much.  Simply buying $500 gift cards, and let’s say you paid $5 in fees to liquidate it (just to keep the numbers round) cuts the number in half, but it’s still $10,000.  I have no idea how Dan got all his SPG points (or how many he has left!), but I say you use your points how you want to, and let me use my points how I want to!

Dan has also previously stolen second base at an Indians game from 25000 United miles and played softball on Wrigley Field with SPG auctions. As a fellow Clevelander, all I have to say is….. GO TRIBE! #RallyTogether #BelieveLand
