The Reds and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County are teaming up to giveaway free Cincinnati Reds tickets this summer as part of the library’s Summer Learning 2016 initiative.

I realize that this is targeted to those living in and around Cincinnati, but given that I live in Cincinnati, I have a higher than average percentage of readers from this area.  You DO need a Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County library card to participate

How to get your Cincinnati Reds ticket codes

First, access the library’s Summer Learn 2016 page.  Under Read and Earn Prizes, choose “Track your Reading”

The first time you access the site, you’ll create a profile.  You will need your library card number and PIN to log in.  You create a username and password.  Then under Track your Reading, you can add additional participants.  This is actually a nice feature because a few years ago, you needed to set up a separate account for each kid and it was a giant pain to track all their reading.

There is no age restriction on entering – this is for kids, teens and adults as well.  Each participant receives their own ticket voucher, and there does not appear to be any limits to how many participants that you can add to your account – we added 8 participants for our family and received 8 ticket vouchers.

It should go without saying, but please don’t abuse this.  It will just end up shutting it down or causing the Reds / library to limit this in future years.  At least there’s not the temptation to get a ton of tickets to resell, since with the Reds so awful this year, the expected resell value of upper level Reds tickets for any given game is approximately… $0. 🙂

How to get your Cincinnati Reds tickets

Once you’ve gotten your ticket codes, you can head over to reds.com/library.  There are 6 dates that you can choose from

Click the T for Tickets, and follow the (long) (cumbersome) Ticketmaster progress and that’s it.  There aren’t even any service charges or Ticketmaster fees that you have to pay – each ticket is truly $0!  You do have to go through the process for EACH voucher code that you have, which is annoying.

While you’re at the ballpark, make sure to check out the “secret” Reds $1 concession stand that has hot dogs, peanuts and pop for $1 each!  And if you’re going to the Cardinals game on August 2nd, we’ll be up in the nosebleeds behind home plate – stop by and say hi!
