(4/14 – Just a reminder that this promotion ends on 4/18 so if you didn’t see it before or meant to do it but forgot, you only have a few more days)

I got an email last night from Plastiq, the company that lets you pay mortgage or rent (or anything else) with a credit card.  I have been paying the mortgages on my rental houses with Plastiq for several months.  I also recently paid my property taxes with Plastiq

(SEE ALSO: My experiences using Plastiq to pay mortgages for “free” money)

I had not had any problems using Plastiq to pay my mortgage and other bills until this past month.  Twice, my mortgage company refused my payment with Plastiq, though supposedly they have everything worked out.  I’m going to wait until my next month’s payment processes before I declare everything entirely fixed.

There is a fee to use Plastiq – the standard fees are 2.5% for a credit card or 1% for a debit card, though they do often run promotions.  Last year there was a promotion that got the fee down to 1.75% and there is currently a promotion on American Express cards.

Promotional Plastiq email

Yesterday, I got an email from Plastiq with the subject line “Earn more rewards when you refer friends”.  Turns out that Plastiq is running a special for new accounts

Normally if you sign up with Plastiq with a referral link, you will earn 200 Fee Free Dollars (FFD) after making your first payment of $20 or more. From now until April 18, 2017, you’ll instead get 400 FFDs after making that $20 payment.

I use my AT&T Access More card, which gives 3x ThankYou points on online purchases, including Plastiq.  A Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard® would be another decent option.

My referral code is at Plastiq and feel free to leave your own referral codes in the comments
