Ho ho ho it’s that time of year! Time for everyone to get all bent out of shape about other people’s choice of holiday greeting! Perhaps I am a bit insensitive to it, since I do celebrate Christmas, which is typically the most “mainstream” holiday.

I don’t know though – working in IT, we have a lot of Indians where I work, and so when they got together to have a big Diwali celebration a few months ago, I didn’t get all bent out of shape about it. I was happy to join in on their celebration (especially since that entailed eating a ton of free Indian food at the potluck they had 😀 )

Anyways, “Merry Christmas” was again in the news this week when a passenger was kicked off a flight from New York’s LaGuardia airport to Dallas. From an article on the New York Post, a man was preparing to board when the agent checking boarding passes wished him (and everyone else) a Merry Christmas. Then…

The grumpy passenger, who appeared to be traveling alone, barked at the woman, “You shouldn’t say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas.”

The agent replied, “Well, what should I say then?”

“Don’t say, ‘Merry Christmas!’ ” the man shouted before brushing past her.

Once on the plane, he was warmly greeted by a flight attendant who also wished him a “merry Christmas.” That was the last straw.

“Don’t say, ‘Merry Christmas!’ ” the man raged before lecturing the attendants and the pilot about their faux pas.

This reminded me of a flowchart that I saw I think last year

Good words to live by!! 😀
