Back in early November, I wrote about how through the end of the year, American Express was giving out codes for 2 free Uber rides from LaGuardia (LGA) airport in New York City to any of the 5 New York boroughs, including tolls.
With the end of the year approaching, as well as the holiday travel season, I thought I’d repost the offer to make sure that anyone traveling to and through LaGuardia could benefit.
Amex Centurion lounges
Airport lounges can be a huge benefit for any travelers, but especially for families. I find most of the domestic lounges available here in the United States to not provide amazing over the top experiences (like you might get overseas), but those benefits can be worth even more for families, since having snacks, a place to sit, and wifi in and of themselves is a big deal

And while there are certainly some bare-bones domestic airport lounges that are barely worth going to, the Amex Centurion lounges have been pretty nice! I’ve been to the Amex Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas (my review), and in addition to hot food, good wi-fi and plenty of seating, they have a kids / family room, which is actually ENCLOSED (so your kids don’t run around bothering everyone!)

How to get your 2 free Uber rides
In order to get your 2 free Uber rides, you have to stop by the Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia airport (LGA) – it’s outside security. You have to be an American Express Platinum or Centurion card member (if you pay for access or have access to the Centurion Lounges another way, you’re not eligible). The staff at the Centurion Lounge will give you a promotional code that will give you 2 free rides from LaGuardia airport anywhere within the 5 boroughs of New York
This is useful because LaGuardia is definitely the most annoying of the New York City area airports to get to! So a free Uber ride anywhere is a big deal!
The official offer terms
This offer expires at 11:59PM EST on December 31, 2015. Must apply the promotional
code to your Uber account prior to taking your ride. Offer only applicable to fares from
LaGuardia Airport to the five boroughs of New York City. Eligible fare includes taxes,
fees, tolls, and surge pricing. Promotional code will be provided upon entry into the
Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia Airport. Lounge entry requires presentation of a valid
Centurion Card or Platinum Card, a government-issued ID, and a boarding pass for the
arriving flight.Only one promotional code per user. Each promotional code may be used two times for
rides within the parameters defined above. Not valid with any other Uber-issued offers.
Card Members that receive a complimentary ride from LaGuardia Airport through this
promotion do not receive Membership Rewards points or other applicable reward units
or points on the eligible fare.
This is a pretty sweet offer – we may have to make a trip to New York in our future (especially while it’s still only 4500 Avios before the British Airways devaluation hits!)
