I wrote the other day about the 2 existing offers for the American Express Hilton cards that are expiring on October 4th

[The highest offer is back – 100,000 Hilton points and a free weekend night]

[Hilton Amex no-fee card bonus up to 75,000 points]

Signing up for credit cards and getting the associated signup bonuses can be one of the strongest ways to get a lot of points.  It’s hard to top earning 10, 20 or even more miles and points per dollar you spend, which is fairly common when you’re trying to earn a signup bonus on a card.

Having said that, allow me to repeat my oft-spoken mantra – DO NOT SIGN UP FOR CARDS BECAUSE SOME GUY ON THE INTERNET SAID THAT YOU SHOULD!  Figure out what works for you and only go as fast as you understand and feel comfortable

Amex Hilton cards offer – 75,000 or 100,000 Hilton points

You can get both of these offers, along with other top hotel cards, at this page of hotel credit cards.  I do receive a commission if you’re approved for cards through this link, and if so, I appreciate the support.

Since the weekend anniversary certificate that comes with the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express is good at ANY hotel, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at some of the places that you could use it.

5 Hilton hotels to use your free weekend certificate

Now of course, the “best” Hilton hotel is the one that’s actually in the city where you ARE (or are planning on going).  But with that caveat in place, here are 5 hotels to consider using your Surpass free night at.  Keep in mind that the annual fee on the card is $75 and is NOT waived the first year, AND you don’t get your free certificate until your 1 year anniversary (so you don’t get one as part of the signup bonus – “only” 100,000 Hilton points)

1. Grand Wailea Resort – Maui

The Grand Wailea Resort in Maui is one of the fanciest places to stay in Hawaii

Rates typically run ~$400 / night and points bookings are 95,000 points / night!

This would be a perfect place to use your free weekend certificate!

2. Waldorf Astoria Park City

On the other hand, going from beaches to snow, you might try the Waldorf Astoria Park City in Park City, Utah

Waldorf Astoria Park City is located at Canyons Village base of Park City Resort which is the largest ski resort in the United States.  It appears that the Waldorf Astoria Park City is one of the Hilton hotels that has moved to dynamic award pricing, as rooms in the summer were as low as 51,000 Hilton points.  Winter rooms were 60K-80K when they were available at all (award availability was blacked out over Christmas and New Years)

3. Trianon Palace Versailles

Or let’s say you want to stay in an actual palace?  The Trianon Palace Versailles is about 30 minutes outside of Paris and within walking distance of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Trianon Palace Versailles is also doing dynamic pricing with rooms costing anywhere from 51,000 to 70,000 points / night.

4. Conrad Centennial Hilton Singapore

My wife and I stayed at the Centennial Conrad Hilton in Singapore last year as part of our first class trip around the world.  We actually used our 2 free nights from the Citi Hilton Reserve card as well as 70,000 points / night to stay there

Cash rates aren’t nearly as high as some of the other hotels on this list, but the location in Singapore is superb – right near the Marina Bay Sands, the Supertrees and convenient to public transit as well

5. Conrad Bora Bora Nui

And let’s end this with Bora Bora, which has a reputation as being one of the most over the top places out there.  The Conrad Bora Bora Nui looks…. pretty nice 🙂

Plus you may be able to combine your free nights here with free nights from the IHG card to stay at the Intercontinental Bora Bora

Did I miss any top Hilton hotels that you have or would consider using your Surpass free weekend night certificate on?  Leave it in the comments

Again, you can apply for either of the Amex Hilton cards, along with other top hotel cards, at this page of hotel credit cards.  I do receive a commission if you’re approved for cards through this link, and if so, I appreciate the support.  Offers expire October 4th
