Just this week, many of us woke up on New Year’s Day to find out that there was no more hotel points transfer to Southwest for the popular companion pass. Southwest did not give advance notice and it upset a lot of people!

Transfer Hotel Points by March 31

Well, It looks like Southwest has changed its mind. According to the Points Guy, Southwest will now allow hotel points and car rental transfer by March 31!

Did you recently purchase SPG points? Or have you been accumulating Marriott or Hyatt points, with the intend to earn the Companion Pass? If so, you’d better act now! Once you earn the companion pass, you have the rest of 2017 and all of 2018 to fly a companion free. Yes almost two full years!

Of course, if you don’t have hotel points to transfer to Southwest, you can always use the 3 other ways to earn the companion pass .

I hope Southwest’s change of heart just made your day! It certainly did for a couple of my friends!
