As I have mentioned a few times, my parents are in the midst of a trip to Scotland.  During the trip, my parents have been acting as “roving reporters”.   Today’s post is an Aer Lingus Business Class review IAD-DUB, from Washington Dulles airport to Dublin.  For previous posts in the series, see

Carolyn and I have flown business class (and first class!) a few times.  We had even tried to fly Aer Lingus business class a few years ago but our flight was canceled while we were on the tarmac!  This Aer Lingus Business Class Washington to Dublin flight was my parents first time flying business class.  Here is their Aer Lingus Business Class IAD-DUB review

Aer Lingus business class review: Overview

Flying business class is the bomb. When we checked in at the gate in Washington (we couldn’t check in before), they told us that we could wait in the British Airways lounge. Our info from online said it closed at 2pm, so that information is wrong, but we didn’t want to walk back to gate 50-something from gate 79.  We ended up spending our waiting time at the Turkish Airline lounge IAD. There were two kinds of seats..singles and doubles. Maybe the singles were first class?

There was a flock(?) of priests on their way to seminary in Dublin on our flight. But they were back in economy

Our very Irish senior crew Leader, Michael, provided great service. Doesn’t he look Irish?

Aer Lingus business class review: Seat

I wondered when we were seated why there was such a large foot well and why it was padded. I found out later, as I stretched the seat flat and went to sleep. I only got about four hours of sleep, as we weren’t allowed to mess with the seats for about forty minutes, and were awakened 45 minutes before landing for breakfast. It may have been short, but it helped. I didn’t think I really slept much, but David asked me if I remembered him climbing over me, and I didn’t.  The Aer Lingus business class seats are fully lie-flat, and even though the flight only lasts about 7 hours, that’s still enough to get a little bit of sleep

I was too tired to wait for dinner on this Aer Lingus Business Class flight. Here is a photo of the menu as well as the food. David said it was good.

Continuing on Aer Lingus to Edinburgh

Customs in Dublin consisted of answering why we were there. We had our carryons, but they didn’t ask to see them. When we arrived in Edinburgh, we saw no one, so went through and collected our baggage. There was no wheelchair waiting for me, but we saw one nearby and grabbed it. The car rental, poorly marked, was all the way through the airport. Then we needed to walk a fair distance outside in the rain to get to the counter. Part of it had a cover over it..part of it didn’t. Avis and Budget are the same company, at least here.

The flight to Edinburgh from Dublin was on a small partner airline. They bussed us out to the far reaches of the airport, where we boarded. No wheeled carryons were allowed. It had a propeller! When we arrived, we exited into the rain, and ran for the door of the airport.a group of people boarding an airplane
