Since the merger with Virgin America, Alaska Airlines have been adding new routes, especially from its new SFO and LAX hubs. Today Alaska announced exciting news of adding 13 new nonstop services from the Bay Area! You can find the starting date of services and detailed flight schedules here.

Alaska announces 13 new nonstop services from the Bay Area.

The new nonstop routes include:

  • daily service using Airbus 320 from San Francisco to Philadelphia, New Orleans, Nashville, Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham, Indianapolis, and Kona Hawaii.
  • daily service using E175 from San Francisco to Albuquerque and Kansas City.
  • daily service using E175 from San Jose to Austin and Tucson.
  • four-times daily service using E175 from San Jose to Los Angeles.

The new nonstop services add to the other new routes Alaska Airlines previously announced and are starting in coming months:

  • San Jose to Newark NJ and Burbank CA.
  • San Francisco to Orlando, Minneapolis and Orange County CA.
  • San Francisco to Mexico City

This is truly exciting, especially for us who live in the Bay Area. The flights to Philadelphia and New Orleans are nice alternatives as they have been only served by United Airlines and American Airlines, two airlines I try to avoid. Having another Hawaiian island on the map is always great, as it only costs 12,500 Avios from the Bay Area to Hawaii!  For those of you who live on the other side of the countries, there is now another reason to get the Bank of America Alaska Airline credit card for the $99 companion certificate.

On the redemption side, the new routes also mean more ways to connect to flights on Alaska’s global airline partners. For example, if you live in New Orleans but want to redeem Alaska miles to fly to Asia, you can now fly Alaska from New Orleans to San Francisco, then Japan Airlines from San Francisco to Japan, or Cathay Pacific from San Francisco to Hong Kong, and continue onto other parts of Asia, all on one award ticket!
