American Express has done a fantastic job introducing new products and perks for its cardholders this year. To wrap up 2018, American Express has introduced the brand new Business Gold Card. This product is somewhat of a replacement for the Business Gold Rewards card, as applications are closed for the latter. However, you can ask American Express to convert you to the new card if you wish. Nonetheless, here is our American Express Gold Business Card review.

American Express Gold Business Card Review – Perks!

The American Express Gold Business card was introduced on November 8th and comes with great perks for small to medium sized business owners.

With the American Express Gold Business Card, there are 6 spending categories to earn 4 points per dollar. The categories are restaurants, gas stations, airfare, purchasing advertising on select media, shipping, and direct purchases from technology providers of hardware, software, and cloud solutions. However, the 4 points per dollar only apply to the top two spending categories. The most convenient part is that American Express automatically figures that out for you! No additional work needed. A great feature for a card you can do a lot of spending on.

Now if you are an extremely heavy spender, there is a $150,000 cap on the 4 points per dollar. So 600,000 points is the maximum for category spending. However, you can still earn 1 point per dollar on all other spending.

Once you earn all of these awesome points, it’s time to spend them. The American Express Gold Business Card has a great 25% rebate when you pay with points for any first or business class ticket with any airline. Or, an economy ticket on the airline of your choice. So that 100,000 point business class ticket goes down to 75,000. Yay for keeping points!

While there is no public sign up bonus (sad face), you can get one for 50,000 American Express Membership Reward Points using a referral application like the one here! These are worth roughly $1,000! Also, you do receive a 1 year subscription to Google G Suite and ZipRecruiter Standard.

As similar to other premium American Express cards, you do get access to The Hotel Collection, The Travel Collection, 2 points per dollar on Amex Travel, return protection, extended warranties, and other travel benefits.

American Express Gold Business Card Review – Drawbacks

Like stated before, there is no points earning sign up bonus. Also, the American Express Gold Business Card has a higher annual fee than the Business Gold Rewards Card. It is now $295, and is not waived the first year.

Our Thoughts

Overall, this is a great product! I am a little disappointed that there isn’t a point based sign up bonus, but you can get one through our referral link! But saving over $3,000 with those two products is a great incentive to become an American Express Gold Business card holder.
