American Express continues to grow its lounge network within the United States and internationally.  Just a few days ago, we heard news that a Centurion lounge will be coming to Denver International.  Barely giving us enough time for that to sink in, American Express is in the process of launching a new lounge at Melbourne Airport.  The Melbourne lounge will be included in American Express’s Global Lounge Network.

The new location will be American Express’s second lounge in Australia (after Sydney).  The Melbourne Lounge will encompass 2,800 square feet and will be located in Terminal 2, at Satellite Level Departures.

American Express Global Lounge Collection

The Global Lounge Collection form American Express includes the following lounges, most of which are accessible for American Express Platinum cardholders.

  • The American Express Centurion® lounge network
  • The International American Express lounges
  • Delta Sky Club®
  • Priority PassTM Select lounges
  • Airspace Lounge
  • Escape Lounge US
  • Plaza Premium lounges

(Don’t think you need a Platinum card?)

While you won’t be getting the full spa treatment in the Melbourne lounge, you will have access to your average lounge amenities.  A relaxing space before your flight can’t be underestimated, and free drinks and food are great!  At airport prices, I’ve saved quite a bit of money with lounge access.  Even when I only have 10 minutes, I’ll stop by to grab a sandwich just before boarding.

The American Express Melbourne lounge is open as of now, 6AM-11PM, 7 days a week.  If you get to Melbourne anytime soon, check it out for us!
