A Cathay Pacific crew member has accused the Hong Kong flag carrier of sending her luggage and that of some of her coworkers to a garbage dump. The luggage was left overnight in a storage room, something that had previously been done with no issue. However, Cathay Pacific issued a memo on December 31 stating that the storage room needed to be kept tidy and only temporary storage of items was appropriate. Temporary in this case meaning not overnight. The airline stated they would dispose of any items left it the room.

Well…this new policy came as a complete surprise to more than one of the airline’s staff who apparently missed the internal memo. One crew member has stated that her missing bag contained her crew uniform and certificate, as well as her passport and other belongings worth $1,000 HKD. Security informed her that her luggage would have made its way to the waste transfer station on Lantau Island on January 5 after being found in the room.

After reviewing the security footage at the waste transfer station, there still wasn’t any sign of the bag, so who knows where it ended up. Maybe Cathay isn’t even at fault. There is no sympathy coming from the airline anyway. Their stance is that they were just following the new policy.

At least the storage room is clean?
