I’ve received near constant reminders of my Southwest Premier over the past few months.  Check out these emails:

  • Cameron, Refer friends and Earn up to 50,000 bonus points to redeem later!
  • Cameron, here’s your exclusive offer to earn A-List status

Earn Double TQPs on Your 2020 Spend

All of these offer great opportunities to pull out your Southwest card.  Both the Premier and Priority Southwest cards from Chase earn you qualifying points towards A-List status.  You’ll earn 1,500 tier qualifying points (TQPs) for each $10,000 in purchases on your card.  You can do that 10 times each year, on each card, up to $100,000 in purchases annually for 15,000 TQPs per card.

This year, Southwest has doubled the amount of TQPs you can earn and removed the limit.  You can actually spend your way to A-List status with Southwest in 2020!  The increased earn rate ends for each cardholder with your December 2020 statement date.  Southwest A-List status typically requires 35,000 TQPs in a single calendar year.  With this promotion, you can earn A-List status by spending a whopping $110,000 on your Southwest Premier or Priority Cards!!  In my opinion, that’s WAY too much spending for your Southwest card.  But, if you’re close to A-List anyway, it’s an easy way to ensure you earn it!  Anyone interested?

I’ve reduced my travel quite a bit this year, as most of us have.  Is A-List still worth it to you?
