Yesterday I wrote about our most recent churn, and mentioned that the 50,000 mile offer that was possible a few weeks ago no longer appeared to be available  There is a FlyerTalk thread about this, and other people are also reporting the same experience.

I stopped by a local Chase branch yesterday because I had heard talk about better offers being available in the branch.  And indeed there was – it was a big laminated card that the banker showed me with an offer for 50,000 miles after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days.chaselogo

I didn’t apply for it right then, but Carolyn or I might stop by at some point if the online 50,000 offer doesn’t come back.  There are also reports in the Flyer Talk thread of Chase being fairly liberal on matching better offers if you ask them via Secure Message after you have the card.

The scenario there would be to apply for the 30,000 offer online, and then meet the spending requirement and send Chase a secure message asking for the 50,000 offer.

What do you think?  Is it worth going in the branch to get the higher offer, or would you find it easier to go for the match via Secure Message?
