The Cusco VIP Lounge is one of two Priority Pass lounges at the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ).  The Cusco VIP lounge is located landside (before security), directly to the left of the ticket counters.  We had come directly from attending church on vacation and had nowhere else to go with about 3 hours to kill before our flight back to Lima.  For some reason I had thought that there weren’t any Priority Pass lounges at CUZ, so I was steeling myself for a long wait in the terminal.  But then, after we checked in, I happened to look to my right as we were heading towards security and spotted this sign!

Since we had a couple of hours to kill, the Cusco VIP lounge seemed like a good place to kill some time and plus I could give a Cusco VIP lounge review post!

Cusco VIP lounge review – seating and amenities

There is not a ton of seating at the Cusco VIP lounge, though we also did not see very many people when we were here on a Sunday morning.  The below picture is pretty much the whole lounge (there are a few seats on the other side of the TV to the left of the picture)

There are bathrooms in the lounge, though I was told that they were closed while I was there (the reason why was lost in translation)

And let’s get to the #1 amenity of any lounge (or anywhere, really) – Wifi!  There is free wifi at the Cuzco VIP Lounge – when you enter, you’re given a little strip with a username and password.  One weird thing was that each username and password is only good for one session (per day?), so when Carolyn tried to log in, it said that her user had already used all the sessions.  I did notice that all the usernames and passwords followed a specific pattern, so a little social engineering got us logged in.  I am also quite sure that they would have given us a different wifi username and password had we asked.

CUZ Priority Pass lounge review – food and drink

I was surprised to be handed a menu when I first arrived to the Cusco VIP Lounge in CUZ airport.

a menu of a sandwich

The sandwiches on the menu are all included in your visit (I assume 1 per person though I did not try to order more).  The sandwiches are prepared fresh and were fairly tasty.  I had the Triple Pizza and Carolyn had the vegetarian sandwich

There are a variety of alcoholic drinks at the CUZ Priority Pass lounge that are available free of charge

After I was given constructive criticism in the comments of my last airport lounge review for not including any information about the alcohol, I did take a picture of the bar

But…. I still don’t know if any of those are any good 🙂  I believe there is a charge for any of the alcohol back behind the counter

There is also a selection of snacks that you can have besides what is on the menu.

I did find out later that there is a SECOND Priority Pass lounge at CUZ – it’s the Kuntur VIP lounge and is AFTER security, downstairs.  I missed it at first and thought that it was only accessible by the international terminal but that is incorrect – it is in the domestic terminal – you turn right, right after security and go downstairs and the Kuntur VIP lounge is right at the bottom of the stairs.

I did not get a chance to visit that one but still was impressed with the Priority Pass lounge in Cuzco Airport!
