Today’s Daily Getaways is various discounted IHG points packages, on sale at 1PM ET. You can find all the details here. Each package has a limited quantity. Each IHG account number is allowed a maximum number of each packages, with no more than 24 packages allowed across all IHG offers.
Details of the Offer
More packages are available this year, and prices are either the same or dropped by a few dollars.
- 8,500 IHG points for $49 (~0.576 cents per point), 2250 available, maximum 5 packages.
- 15,000 IHG points for $89 (~0.593 cents per point), 2,210 available, maximum 5 packages.
- 25,000 IHG points for $149 (~0.596 cents per point), 999 available, maximum 4 packages.
- 50,000 IHG points for $290 (~0.58 cents per point), dropped from $299 last year, 1255 available, maximum 4 packages.
- 100,000 IHG points for $580 (~0.58 cents per point), dropped from $589 last year, 1000 available, maximum 3 packages.
- 130,000 IHG points for $749 (~0.576 cents per point), 2000 available, maximum 3 packages.
Note that points purchased under Daily Getaways do not count towards IHG’s annual limit of 60,000 points per year. IHG has 100% buy point bonus promotion every year, allowing the purchase of 60,000 points with a bonus of 60,000 points. The cheapest cost was $690, equivalent to 0.575 per point. Of course, you can always buy IHG points indirectly at 0.7 cents per point.
Should you buy IHG Points?
There has been a lot of changes to the IHG program recently. Despite all the negative changes, I believe you can still find value, but you will have to look harder.

I bought IHG points for a few years during Daily Getaway sale and redeemed points for hotel stays. All our stays were not at any fancy locations, such as Holiday Inn Express Manteca City Center for weekend soccer tournament, where a room would cost $190 before taxes, or 15,000 points. So at the cost of 0.576 per point, 15,000 points would cost me just $86.40, a saving of over $100 for the room!
A few years ago my family of five went to Ocean City Maryland over 4th of July weekend. We stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites Ocean City, right on the beach. The hotel is not fancy by any means, but the room does fit all five of us. The best part? We paid 35,000 points for a room that was priced at well over $450 per night. Today, the hotel costs 45,000 points a night, but you can still get a substantial saving using points purchased instead of paying cash.
Of course, you can also redeem IHG points for high-end Intercontinental hotels that require 70,000 points a night, capping the cost at $403.20 if you use points purchased through Daily Getaway. You can also redeem just 5,000 points for IHG point break hotels, which is like paying less than $30 per night!
My husband and I go to Napa Valley a lot and IHG finally has a decent hotel there with the newly remodeled Hotel Indigo, and it cost just 40,000 points, compared to over $330 for a Saturday night during the summer!
I still have some IHG points left, so I am not sure if I want to reload today. Do you plan to purchasing IHG points at these rates?

Yes, way back when….. those were the days.
when IHG was a decent rewards program, NOT focused on the trump class high rollers. (the fruit of the acquisition of Kimpton)
by your logic here, the latest “daily getaways” deal is worthwhile if we get lucky and find a place we’d want to use them — and get a pittance of a modest discount off the normal cash rate. (far, far easier to do the same with Chase UR points)
and goood luck with finding 5k IHG point breaks deals….. they’re ticketed for “way back when” posts too.
