Last month, Delta announced that it will end its partnership with Alaska Airlines on May 1, 2017. Now that the official news of break-up is out of the way, Delta is going after Alaska in full speed at Seattle!

Seven new routes from Seattle

Earlier this week Delta announced that it plans to add seven new destinations from its Seattle hub. Flights will be for sale beginning Saturday, Jan. 14.

  • 1 daily flight to Milwaukee beginning 3/9/17 and operated by SkyWest using E-175.
  • 3 daily flights to Eugene Oregon 4/1/17 and operated by SkyWest using CRJ-700;
  • 1 daily flight to Nashville beginning 5/26/17 using Airbus A319;
  • 1 daily flight to Raleigh-Durham beginning 6/8/17 using Boeing 737;
  • 1 daily flight to Austin beginning 6/12/17 using Airbus A319;
  • 2 daily flights to Redmond Oregon beginning 6/12/17 and operated by SkyWest using CRJ-700;
  • 1 daily flight to Lihue Kauai beginning 12/21/17 using Boeing 757.

Expanding service to 4 existing destinations

In addition to the seven new destinations, Delta will also expand service to four existing destinations from Seattle. The airline will operate

  • 2nd daily flight to Orlando
  • 2nd daily flight to Boston
  • 5th daily flight to San Diego
  • 8th daily flight to Portland

Additionally, several flights to San Francisco and Denver will be upgraded to larger mainline aircraft.

It looks like the fight between Delta and Alaska in Seattle will continue. Hopefully we as passengers will see lower fares and benefit from their competition.
