Who wants more Hilton points? (Even if they’re not worth that much, a point is a point is a point!)
For fans of Lyft, it just got easier to boost your Hilton balance. You can now earn 3 Hilton points per dollar spent on Lyft rides (Economy, Luxury, and Extra Seats), and 2 Hilton points per dollar on Lyft Line rides.
This kind of partnership is great for us travel hackers. You’re earning extra points through a partnership, totally separate from your credit card points. So if you pay for your Lyft ride with a credit card that earns a bonus on ridesharing, you’ll earn those points on top of the new Hilton points!
How to Link Your Lyft and Hilton Accounts
Sounds great right? Here’s how you do it:
- Check out this site.
- Click on “Get Started” (if you don’t have a Hilton account yet, you’ll need to set one up).
- Login into your Hilton account.
- On the next page, double check your Hilton number and email are accurate, then link your accounts.
- Login to Lyft.
- Earn Hilton Points on your next Lyft ride!
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Lyft partnership: You can also earn 30 TrueBlue points on every Lyft ride to or from the airport, and you can earn double Delta SkyMiles on each dollar spent on Lyft rides. I’ve had my Lyft account linked to JetBlue and Delta for a long time now, and earn points whenever I ride. If you have your account linked to all three, you can really rake it in!
Consider a $20 ride home from Boston Logan, pretty typical for me. I’ll usually order a regular Economy Lyft if I’ve got the family (a shared Line Ride when I’m by myself). On $20 spent, I’ll earn 60 Hilton points, 40 Delta SkyMiles, and 30 TrueBlue points. If I pay with my Discover card this quarter, I’ll also earn 5% back on ridesharing – $1. Not a whole lot, but every bit counts! If we value Hilton points at a half cent, and SkyMiles and TrueBlue at 1.5 cents, you’re looking at about $2.35 back, or about 11.75% of your cost.
I mean, you’re not going to get rich doing this, but you might as well link your accounts!
