Just over a month ago, Frontier announced a slew of new routes, mainly out of Ohio and the East Coast. Today, they’re announcing routes based on the other side of the country: Colorado Springs, CO and Las Vegas, NV. It’s interesting to see them swing back into Colorado Springs, especially since the last time they added a bunch of routes (including some of the same below!) it failed pretty spectacularly.

  • San Diego, CA – 1x daily service, starts 6/10

Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas sees fewer routes than Colorado Springs, but definitely some interesting adds. It looks like they’re going after the Allegiant model in Bismarck and Sioux Falls. The adds are:

  • Bismarck, ND (BIS) – 2x weekly service, starts 6/11
  • Indianapolis, IN (IND) – 3x weekly service, starts 6/16
  • Sioux Falls, SD (FSD) – 4x weekly service, starts 6/12
  • Washington, D.C. (IAD) – 1x daily service, starts 6/16

All services listed as listed as year-round, not seasonal.

Low introductory rates?

Frontier is offering special introductory fares as low as $29 on these new routes as of today at www.flyfrontier.com. For example:

  • COS to/from LAX – $39
  • COS to/from SAN – $29
  • COS to/from SFO – $49
  • COS to/from ORD – $29
  • COS to/from IAD – $69
  • IAD to/from LAS – $69
  • IND to/from LAS – $59
  • FSD to/from LAS – $39
  • BIS to/from LAS – $39

What to know

Remember, Frontier charges for bags and seats, which can really increase the price of your ticket. Even still, with those low fares, these tickets plus extras may still be cheaper than the competition.

Also keep in mind that many of these new flights are sub-daily, which can present a problem when irregular operations hit. You can never plan for something like that, but it’s a good piece of knowledge to tuck away.

Conclusion

It’s always great when airlines add, rather than take away, routes. Let us know if you’ll be using these new routes out of your hometown.
