As I continue to enjoy racking up Hilton Honors Points through my portfolio of cards, this is another great way to boost your points bank! Hilton is doing a 100% bonus on the points you buy until December 18th. Now that is a great Christmas present!

Hilton Honors Points 100% Bonus

I currently value Hilton Honors Points at 6/10 of a cent per point (.006). They aren’t super valuable if you only have 10,000 like my wife does. However, I recommend applying for a Hilton Honors American Express Card to complement your points purchase. With this, you will be well on your way to a beautiful award stay!

You are able to purchase up to 160,000 points, which will earn you an extra 160,000 on top, for $1,600 USD. This leaves you a value of 1/2 a cent per point (.005), which is a bit under my value. It is up to you to decide how much they are worth. But the real value is how you use them!

My wife and I just booked a 7 night stay at the Hilton Ponce in Puerto Rico in January for 240,000 points. A simple king size bed room for the dates we are going totals up to $1,571.63 with taxes and resort fees. So for even the most basic room, I was able to achieve .0065 cents per point. That is right on the money for value.

However, the reason I suggest complementing a points purchase with a Hilton Honors card is the very likely chance of achieving an upgrade! A potential upgrade will only drive the value of my spent points even higher. Depending on which card you choose, you are automatically granted status.

Lastly, other than keeping your hard earned money in your pocket there are other benefits to booking with points. You are able to avoid pesky resort fees and you get your fifth night free!

Final Thoughts

I booked the room I mentioned as a Gold Hilton Honors tier status. However, I just applied for and received my Hilton Honors Aspire card a few days ago, and now my account shows as Diamond. I am nearly guaranteed a room upgrade, which will only make those points go farther.

As for this Hilton Honors Points promotion, I am not the biggest fan of buying points. However, when used correctly, it may not be a bad purchase!
