Recently as part of my first ever mileage run, I had the occasion to do a quick overnight turn in Orlando. I wanted to make a Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport hotel review and give my quick thoughts on this Orlando Florida airport hotel.

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport location

You’ll never believe this but… the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport is located… in the airport! This was the first time that I have ever personally stayed at an airport hotel that is actually IN the airport, and the convenience factor was super high!

After you get off of the people mover back into the central area of the airport, the Hyatt Regency Orlando Florida hotel is right there! It was probably no more than a 5 minute walk from The Club MCO Priority Pass lounge, where we had stopped off to grab a quick snack. You go up the escalator to the lobby level, which has McCoy’s restaurant as well as the check-in desk.

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport hotel review – cost

The Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport is a Category 3 Hyatt hotel, which means that it costs 12,000 points / night. I had a bit of analysis paralysis with regard to booking an Orlando airport hotel since there are so many options, but in the end I went with the convenience of being inside the airport. Especially now that the Hyatt Place Orlando Airport is no longer a Category 1 (it’s Category 2 or 8000 points / night), the extra cost in points was worth it. The Staybridge Suites Orlando Airport South at 25,000 IHG points was another option that we did stay at last time we were in Orlando.

As with most hotels in the Orlando area, the cash prices wildly vary depending on what all is going on in town. Checking a smattering of upcoming dates, it was going for at least $200 / night, and many nights more

That makes using 12,000 Hyatt points a pretty attractive option at anywhere from 2 to 3 cents per point.

Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency hotel review – room

The Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport has 10 floors. We were in Room 8114, which is on the 8th floor in one of the corners of the hotel. We were not recognized as Globalist members at check-in, but I believe we did get an upgrade from a standard room – I believe we had a Junior Suite.

It had 2 Queen beds with a work area

two beds with lights on them

as well as a large “living area” with TV. There was not a separate room with a door or even any type of divider, which I know rankles some who say that it’s not a suite if it doesn’t have a door.

One interesting feature I noticed late at night was that there were under-bed lights that would light up if you got up out of bed in the middle of the night.

The bathroom was off to the left as you entered the suite and had modern finishings. One other nice touch that I noticed is that the mirror has a small LED clock embedded into it so you can see what time it is if you’re using the bathroom in the middle of the night.

We had asked for an airport view room (see below), and were very pleased with our view. We got there at a little before 10 p.m. and the airport noise was not an issue at all throughout the night. The Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport does provide complimentary earplugs.

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport executive lounge

If you’re wondering does the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport have an executive lounge, tragically, the answer is no, it does not. There is no Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport executive lounge. If you have sufficient elite status in the World of Hyatt program, then you do have the option of complimentary breakfast at Hemispheres Restaurant, on the 9th floor (see below).

Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency – food

While there is no Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency executive lounge, the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport has 2 restaurants – McCoy’s, on the main (4th) floor, and Hemisphere on the 9th (and 10th) floors. As a Globalist, because there is no Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency executive lounge, we took our breakfast benefit at Hemisphere, which opens at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast.

They had a menu that you could order off of, as well as a buffet breakfast. We chose the buffet, which was plentiful. They had several hot dishes including eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes and french toast.

There was also a supply of fruits and meats.

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport review – amenities

The Hyatt Regency does have a Fitness Center on the 6th floor with a variety of machines as well as free weights.

There is also an outdoor heated pool, also located on the 6th floor. It seems like it’s on the roof as it has some nice views.

When I checked in to this Orlando Airport hotel, they said that they were doing a new thing for “wellness” and anded me this bag. I’m not sure if that is for all members or only members of a certain elite status (I’m currently a Hyatt Globalist). Inside were a few bars of what looked like travel size essential oils? My daughter told me that the sleep stick smelled like lavender, which I know they use sometimes as a sleep aid.

Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport special requests

Okay, I’ll admit it – I am a sucker for filling out those “special requests” boxes when making a hotel booking. I like to

When we got to the room, I went in first (as usual, to take pics 😀 ). My daughter said “Don’t tell me if there’s anything there!” – I don’t think she really thought that the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport staff would come through. But…. boom!

With the airport-view room, that’s 3/3 for the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport and I’ve gotta give them 5 stars on my Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport hotel review.
