Although we’re still waiting on a 2018 3rd Quarter Accelerate Promotion, the hotel chain released a new IHG Double Points Plus More promotion today, September 3rd. The 2nd quarter’s Accelerate offer ended on July 31st, so we’ve been in limbo for a little over a month now. (Admittedly, I’ve been distracted by all the Marriott-SPG news this summer!)
This doesn’t seem to be quite the same as Accelerate, but fans of IHG’s Accelerate promotion will appreciate the familiar design of the page. Doctor of Credit even went so far as to question if there would even be another Accelerate Offer. Maybe this is a revamped Accelerate program…who knows?
Fear not fellow points enthusiasts; as of today, you can still accelerate your IHG points balances!

Sign Up For IHG Double Points Plus More
Signing up is easy! Follow these steps:
- Log in to your IHG account online.
- Once logged in, go to the current promotion’s page.
- Accept the terms and conditions, and hit register.
After you register, you’ll be able to get back to your IHG Double Points Plus More promotion by going to the “Offers” page of your account.
Here’s how it works:
Upon Registration (as defined below), members will be presented with the opportunity to earn at least 15,000 bonus points upon completion of all offers presented. Double Points will be awarded for qualifying stays after your second qualifying stay.

Members will be awarded bonus points listed for each individual Promotional offer (“Offer”) after completing the requirements of each individual Offer. Each Offer must be completed between 16 September 2018 and 16 December 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Registration”).
I’m able to earn double points up to 15,000 bonus IHG points, and I’ll get 6,600 points for booking 2 bonus points stays. I don’t have much hotel travel coming up, so I probably won’t hit these.
Dan got a 4,000 bonus point offer for 1 stay of at least 4 nights long.
Ian’s got us all beat, and is planning on meeting these bonuses with work travel. If you travel for work too, and can redirect some of your hotel stays to IHG brands, Accelerate will be great for you!
Will this replace IHG’s famous Accelerate offers?
I’m not sure, but it seems very similar. It looks like the IHG Double Points Plus More promotion is rewarding consistent stays with double points for every stay after your first stay, rather than allowing people to “game” the system by just hitting Accelerate offers.
