If you’ve flown through DEN recently, you might be excited to hear this – there are two new lounges coming to Denver International!  In the coming years, you should see a Denver Centurion lounge, and a Plaza Premium lounge!

The Denver airport requested bids in late 2017 for new, independent (not airline-run) lounges.  As of last week, we know a little bit more about the future of the airport.  The airport has recommended two lounges to the city council, now waiting on approval.  In a few years, you may find me relaxing in the Denver Centurion lounge spa!  Flying internationally into Terminal A?  Stop by the Plaza Premium lounge for a bite to eat!

Plaza Premium is headquartered in Hong Kong, with their lounges mostly throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Canada.  If approved, the Denver location will be Plaza Premium’s US flagship lounge.  The company hopes the city will approve a 10 year lease of almost 12,000 square feet in Terminal A. (Denver City Council Resolution here.)

Proposed location of Denver’s future Plaza Premium lounge.

American Express is gunning for a Denver Centurion lounge located in Terminal C.  Weighing in at a little over 14,000 square feet, the Denver Centurion lounge would be second only to the forthcoming JFK Centurion lounge, and would house all of the great benefits from other Centurion lounges.  This will be another 10 year lease.  Don’t worry, I’ll have plenty of trips to Denver in the next 10 years.  (Denver City Council Resolution here.)

You’ll find the Denver Centurion lounge in Concourse C, which currently serves Alaska/Virgin America, Allegiant, Southwest, and Spirit. A Centurion lounge near Southwest gates? Yes please!

The Denver Centurion lounge would be American Express’s 10th lounge in the states (assuming their JFK lounge opens first).  Scrolling through the presentation, it appears AmEx is pulling out all the stops for Denver.  Food, bar service, and a spa, oh my!

For the curious, check out this recording of the Denver City Council meeting.  Skip to about the 10 minute mark, and you’ll get some more information on the lounge offerings.  Essentially, the city asked companies to bid on lounge space, requiring a lounge in Concourse A (for the international flights) with an optional space in Concourse C.  American Express and Plaza Premium are partnering with each other to satisfy the requirements, and provide the airport with some varied lounge access.

I fly to Denver at least every other year to visit family, so I’d love to see more lounges at this airport.  Bonus points for easy accessibility!  Just flash your Platinum card at the Denver Centurion lounge. Have a Priority Pass?  Plaza Premium accepts it!  Fingers crossed these dreams come true!
