Hot on the heels of Ian’s review of the DFW Minute Suites, I got to check out their space at Philadelphia International Airport!  Our Minute Suites PHL Review will bring you to a typical Suite and point out the amenities.  Keep reading to find out what you can expect!

  • ATL – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Concourse T
  • CLT – Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Atrium
  • DFW – Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Terminal A
  • DFW – Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Terminal D
  • PHL – Philadelphia International Airport, Terminal A/B Connector

Getting to the Minute Suites PHL

The Minute Suites at Philadelphia International are wicked easy to find.  Located in the Connector between Terminals A and B, the Minute Suites PHL is right on the corner of the connector hallway, closer to Terminal B.  If you’re going through security at Terminal B, turn right, and you should see their sign right away.

The sign is easy to find from the Terminal A/B Connector at PHL.

When I showed up, there was a room available immediately.  “Great!  I’ll take one, I’ll only be here for about 45 minutes.”  The helpful attendant explained that I get the first hour free with my Priority Pass Select membership, and that any time after that would be charged to my card, at a rate of $28/hour.  The normal rate is $42/hour, but if I’m understanding correctly, Priority Pass members get the discounted $28 rate as a privilege of membership.

Proof of Priority Pass acceptance!

I handed over my Priority Pass card and a credit card, and she showed me to my room.  After a brief spiel on the amenities, the snacks for purchase, and the DirecTV remote, I snagged some pictures, and settled in for a nap.

What’s in your Suite?

In total, the Minute Suites at Philadelphia International has 12 separate suites.  Each suite has a small desk and chair, a TV with DirecTV service, a couch/bed combo (with an additional pull out section of the bed), and a few blankets and pillows.

The view from your couch/bed. All in, the room is probably about 8 feet wide by 10 feet deep.

The walls of the Suite seemed a bit thin.  I could hear folks talking with the attendant, but not too loudly.  The noise that really got me were the suitcases.  Due to the location of the Minute Suites PHL at the end of the Terminal A/B Connector, the entrance is right near the end of a moving walkway.  As folks get off the walkway, the suitcase wheels hit the grate and make a loud clacking sound.  After a little while I got used to it, but I could definitely hear it from the comfort of my new couch/bed.

The pillows were nice, and the blanket was one of those fuzzy microfiber numbers.  The room was a bit on the cooler side, so the blanket was very comfortable!  When I stretched out on the couch, it seemed just a bit short for me, and I measure up to an incredible 5 foot 7 inches (…and that’s pushing it).  For those taller than me, you might find yourself a bit cramped.

The room overall is small (as Ian noted at DFW), but acceptable.  For 1 or 2 people, theres plenty of room to watch a show, get a few emails done, or sleep on the couch.  Well, if you’re friendly, that is…

Here’s your bed! Unfortunately, the pull out section can’t be lifted up, so the bed really stays a bit smaller than an American twin-size mattress.  The bed is probably a little tight if you don’t like your bunkmate…

Snacks and water were available for purchase, as well a strange bottle of “Sleep Easy”, which I assume is the exact opposite of 5 Hour Energy.  Pricing was more than your local grocery store, but that’s to be expected.

One feature I didn’t notice until too late:

a light switch and a switch on a wall

That silver dial is a white noise machine! Sure enough, if I turned it up, the white noise drowned out the constant clickity-clack of suitcases leaving the moving walkway.

There’s a white noise controller right next to the light switch i the room.  I must not have noticed this at first, but played around with it before I left.  It can get relatively loud, and absolutely drowns out the ambient airport noises I mentioned earlier.

Minutes Suites PHL Review Wrap-Up

I got a great power nap and some quiet space in a bustling airport.  Can’t complain!

I should note that the Minute Suites aren’t just for sleeping.  The DirecTV is a great option if you want to catch up on your shows, or need a little entertainment.  There’s also a selection of boardgames for anyone interested, though they weren’t all the interesting.

Nothing super interesting, but a few choices to keep yourself entertained.

Personally I think these are a great addition to the Priority Pass network.  Most of us have a Priority Pass Select Membership, compliments of one of our great credit cards.  If you do, then you’ll get free admission for yourself and two guests.  Additional guests will cost $32 as of October 1st, 2018, and will be billed to the credit card connected with your Priority Pass.

Would I go back to the Minute Suites?  Sure.  If you need a quiet, secluded space, it’s great.  If you need a power nap, it’s perfect!  For killing time during a layover or getting work done though, I’d definitely opt for a more traditional lounge.  With a regular Priority Pass lounge, you’ll usually get refreshments, plenty of seating options, and fast Wi-Fi.

Have you guys ever been to the Minute Suites PHL?  What do you think?
