There’s a new Amex Offer going around that’s pretty lucrative – since you can use it on ANY hotel stay. From the reports that I’ve seen, there are actually 2 different offers. Some people are targeted for $50 off a stay of $250 or more, and others have $25 off a $100 stay.
The offer does appear targeted – I had none on any of my American Express cards, and Carolyn had 3 of the $25 off $100 offers – both offers are good through March 31st. And because you’ll be paying the actual rate booked at the actual hotel merchant, these should be eligible to earn points as normal. This might be a good offer to combine with some of the Q1 promotions, such as the IHG Accelerate 2016 Spring promotion. Of course, another good way to get tons of hotel points is filling out index cards

Basically for my offer, all you have to do is just spend $100 with the enrolled American Express card, and you’ll receive a $25 statement credit within a few days / weeks.
The details on my offer state:
Get a one-time $25 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $100 or more on all room charges, including room rate, when you pay for your reservation directly with an eligible merchant by 3/31/2016. See terms for exclusions.
I also see that “Qualifying purchases at eligible merchants must total at least $100 and be made during the offer period above.”, which makes me think that you could do multiple stays that TOTAL $100, but I’d probably just use it on one stay over $100 to be safe. YMMV also as to whether or not it would work on hotel gift cards.
