It’s about that time again – time for another credit card signup.  Signing up for new credit cards is one of the fastest ways to get a lot of points in a short amount of time

Last time I did a credit card signup was back in August, so I’ve successfully met all those minimum spending requirements, and ready to open up some new cards

If you’re not meeting a minimum spending requirement, it’s time to open up a new card!

As I’ve said before, the one thing I DO recommend before signing up for a ton of credit cards is that you go slow, understand what you’re doing, and only go as fast as you are comfortable with.  Don’t sign up for a credit card just because some guy on the Internet says you should!!!

Cards that intrigue me

I typically look through each bank and explore cards I don’t have or in other ways I am eligible for, keeping in mind the current credit card signup rules and best practices.

Amex

Looking at the SPG Business card for Carolyn.  I got it when the signup bonus was up to 30,000 points, back in August, but with the recent news of Marriott buying SPG, I’m wondering if the SPG cards will be around next year (remember you can only get an Amex personal bonus once in your lifetime but business card bonuses can be received every 12 months)

I was also planning on the Amex Delta business card with a 50K signup bonus, but I waited too long and that offer now appears expired 🙁

Another option was upgrading my Hilton card to a Hilton Surpass, via this Running with Miles trick.

Bank of America

It’s time for my old standby – the Bank of America Alaska cards!  We’ll both be getting those cards, with the deal that gives 25,000 miles and a $100 statement credit

Barclays

I’ve been avoiding Barclay for awhile, but am considering getting another Arrival card. I closed mine several months ago, after the Barclay Arrival devaluation

Citi

Some thoughts – I may go for another Citi AAdvantage card, and I may get one of the Citi Prestige cards so I can use its $250 annual airline credit in 2015 as well as in 2016

Chase

My wife has a Chase Ink plus, and although I used to have one (got one in my first ever signup!), I don’t have one currently.  Since Ink cards aren’t part of the Chase 5/24 rule I thought about getting one of those.

The Chase Marriott cards (personal and business) are intriguing for the same reason as the SPG Amex cards – hard to know if they’ll still be around in the same format next year.

I have the Southwest Companion Pass (expiring at the end of 2015) but it seems like it should be time for my wife to get it, early in 2016 so it’s good through the end of 2017.  That would mean the Southwest Business card and/or the Southwest personal card

And if I do end up getting Hyatt Diamond status, the Chase Hyatt card is definitely going to be coming in at some point over the next few months!

Any good ones I’ve missed?

I don’t have individual affiliate links to these cards, but most of these cards are accessible through my links at creditcards.com.  You don’t have to use my links if you’re signing up for credit cards (and you should always make sure that they represent the best deal), but if you do, I appreciate it!
