As part of our trip out to the Bay Area to visit family, we stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Sacramento Airport Natomas.  The Sacramento Airport Residence Inn is located at 2410 West El Camino Avenue in Sacramento  California, right off of I-5.

It is a Category 3 Marriott hotel, which means that it needs 15,000 points / night to book.  If you are looking for cash prices, you can read reviews at TripAdvisorInvalid request error occurred. or check rates at hotels.comInvalid request error occurred.
We had a 2 Bedroom suite which for some reason still had an occupancy “suggestion” of 5.  It had the main room, pictured below

We ended up moving the table you see in the lower left out of the way into the kitchen to open things up.  Unfortunately there was an immovable light fixture right below the table but we only had people smack their heads on it a few times. 🙂

To your left was a full kitchen

and then off to both sides of the main room were 2 bedrooms.  Each bedroom had a full bathroom and one queen bed.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Sacramento Airport Natomas has a full hot breakfast every morning

It had 4 hot items which were rotated every day – usually eggs and then a variety of meats.  In addition, there were these apple flavored coffee cakes which were SO good.  I thought Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls were the pinnacle of the budget breakfast treats but these are my new favorites.  My wife also said that the oatmeal at this Sacramento Airport Residence Inn was one of the best she’s had.

Residence Inn is also one of the brands of hotels that gives free dinner, with a “Manager’s Reception” on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night.  We stayed on a Wednesday through Sunday, so we only were able to take advantage of free dinner the first night.  I had called ahead to find out what was on the menu, to see if we needed to make additional plans.  Originally they told me they were going to cater in sushi (no good) but when I called to confirm they said it had been changed to pizza (yay!)

There were also soft drinks (cans of Pepsi and Sierra Mist) and I believe some alcohol as well.  Also cookies and other treats

This Sacramento Airport hotel does come with a heated outdoor pool, grill area and fitness center (pictures from Marriott.com).  The fitness center has 2 treadmills and an elliptical, along with a small selection of free weights.  No exercise bike, which would be my preferred machine 🙁

It was only in the 60s and 70s when we were there in late March but my kids still swam anyways….

Problems at the Residence Inn Sacramento Airport Natomas

We did run into a few problems while at the Residence Inn Sacramento Airport Natomas.  Here were a few and how they were resolved

  • Both the frying pan and the pot that we tried to use in the full kitchen were warped and unusable.  They quickly brought us a spare set
  • The clock in the fitness center was not working, and while there was a water machine, there were no cups.  I reported both of those to the front desk, but neither was fixed by the end of my stay
  • We tried to use the grill on Saturday night, but there was no way to turn it on.  Perhaps this is by design, but we had to wait for someone to come out and light the grill by hand (well, with a lighter)
  • One night, there were some kids who were not following the rules of hotel etiquette for kids and being crazy loud in the room above us.  After calling the front desk, the noise stopped nearly immediately.
  • Our last 2 nights, the hotel was pretty full and parking was sparse.  We had to park nearly all the way around the hotel one night.

Nothing major and we definitely enjoyed our time at the Sacramento Airport Natomas Residence Inn by Marriott

Sacramento Airport Natomas Residence Inn by Marriott cost

As I mentioned, if you’re booking with points, the Sacramento Airport Natomas Residence Inn is a Category 3 hotel, which means it costs 15,000 points a night.  That books you into a 1BR suite.  For our stay, I used 45,000 points plus my anniversary night from the Marriott credit card.  I then reached out to the hotel and they gave me a complimentary upgrade to a 2BR suite.
