Wyndham has been rumored to be possibly changing their award charts. While pretty much every hotel chain has a complex award chart, Wyndham keep it so simple. 15,000 points gets you a free night, period! Now, it is being rumored (source: Doctor of Credit) around that Wyndham is going to a tiered chart. This could be in part with their expansion into new regions.
The changes are simple but it is rough to hear about the devaluation of points. This just happened with Hyatt as well!
Wyndham Award Chart Rumored Changes
For those (like Dan) that mainly redeem points at the most economic level to stretch the value of points, this isn’t a huge deal. If you like luxury and splurging, this is bad news. According to what is going around the rumor mill, the changes will be the following:
Tier 1: 7,500 points per night (This will probably be for value hotels like Super 8)
Tier 2: 15,000 points per night
Tier 3: 30,000 points per night (This will probably be for a hotels in expensive places like the Wyndham in NYC)
It is refreshing to see an extremely simple chart, but still a bummer to see rewards programs being bogged down. This pretty much removes any reason to continue racking up Wyndham points from my point of view. If you are planning on staying at a Wyndham soon, be sure to book your award nights NOW!
As a points and miles enthusiast, the value of being loyal is being diminished. Am I going to stop collecting million of points and miles? No way! I love traveling for pennies on the dollar! However, rewards programs are proven to be business positive. In a time where hotels are scrambling to up their game in the face of [airbnb] and VRBO, this doesn’t help their case.
Wyndham is known for canceling promotions with no notice and other sorts of sneaky behavior, so this would not surprise me.

I’m a Wyndham reward diamond member also have the credit card. It will definitely suck moving away from the 15K point reward program!!
This is not right and I will cancel my Wyndham card I have been saving just to stay in nice place now there upping the points when I have been loyal member???
