Yesterday, I received an e-mail from IHG letting me know that as an IHG Rewards Club member, I could save 12% on the cash portion of a Points + Cash redemption. As Deals We Like pointed out, some people are targeted for 10% savings, while other are targeted for 12% savings, most likely correlated to status level. As an IHG member, you should have received an e-mail, but you can also access the deal here. This is similar to a deal IHG ran back in September, previously covered by Dan.

Sale Rules

  • 12% discount is offered at time of booking and only pertains to the cash cost of bookings
  • Must be a Platinum Elite member at the time of booking to be eligible for offer
  • Bookings for The Venetian and The Palazzo hotels are excluded from discounts
  • This offer is subject to the general IHG Rewards Club membership Terms and Conditions

You also must book your stay by March 30th, and stay by April 30th. I assume some of these terms and conditions to be dependent on status level, so I’ve bolded the areas you’ll likely see changed if you’re not a Platinum Elite member.

Double Dipping?

Remember, if you have the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card by Chase, you’ll also get a 10% point redemption on the points portion of your stay as well. For instance, a room that might cost 10,000 points plus $90 per night would actual cost 9,000 points plus $79.20 per night. On a week long stay, that could add up to 7,000 points and $75.60 saved, and while it’s not a huge savings, but every little bit helps, especially when you’re trying to stretch your points!

Conclusion

While it’s not the biggest sale out there, saving 12% on the cash portion of a Points + Cash redemption is nothing to sneeze at, and the deal gets sweeter if you also have the IHG credit card. Just don’t disappoint Dan by using this discount at a Holiday Inn ;).
