Yesterday, I wrote about the release of the IHG Point Breaks list for January 2016 through April 2016.  I also updated my resource page which contains the current IHG Point Breaks map as well as the current IHG Point Breaks list.

IHG Point Breaks are one of the best deals out there for hotel points.  This current list has 170 hotels on it, each can be booked for only 5000 points / night.  The list went live yesterday, and usually the “good” hotels sell out pretty rapidly.

Some Point Breaks hotels allowing premium rooms and suites too!

Each hotel decides themselves which of their rooms are bookable on awards (and therefore Point Breaks).  Normally I find this to be restrictive – for instance when I tried to book an award at a Candlewood Suites, I found that only rooms with an occupancy of 2 were allowed to be booked!  In that case, I was able to call the hotel and work something out over the phone, though in the end, we ended up not staying there on our epic summer road trip

Now, via Flying Xplorer (and You Have Been Upgraded if you speak German), it appears that some hotels on the current IHG Pointbreaks list are allowing premium rooms and even suites for only 5000 points!

Here’s the Crowne Plaza Toyama (Japan), with Premier rooms at the 5000 points / night level

And the Holiday Inn Batam (Indonesia) is offering SUITES for 5000 points / night

As I said, it’s up to the hotel to determine which rooms are eligible for awards, so it can be hit or miss.  When we stayed at the Hyatt House San Juan – they offered a 1 BR suite which was a SUPER nice room for the regular rate (8000 points / night).  If you’re trying to find hotels that have them, I’d focus on more of the upscale rooms (I’d imagine your typical Holiday Inn Express or Candlewood Suites doesn’t have a ton of variety for rooms.  Here’s one more I found – the Executive Suite at the Crowne Plaza Annapolis

That’s a redemption of 4.3 cents per point – not bad!  As a reminder, if you find one like this you’ll want to book it quick – these types of rooms are going to sell out pretty quickly!

Have you found any “premium” rooms bookable with IHG Point Breaks?
