Have any flights through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport coming up? If you want to check out the Centurion lounge there, you’ll have to wait a few more months! The DFW Centurion Lounge delay in opening was confirmed via email from American Express.
The original planned closure of the Centurion Lounge had an opening date of August 14th. Due to “additional maintenance needed” AmEx will be keeping the doors closed for now. If you check out AmEx’s own website, the language still notes an August 14th opening as of the time of this writing. In email correspondence last Friday, American Express confirmed they need at least another 2 months to complete the work. Right now, the company is targeting an early October re-opening.
We wanted to provide an update on the Centurion Lounge at DFW
Due to additional maintenance needed in our current DFW Centurion Lounge location, we will not be reopening this space. However, we look forward to welcoming Card Members into our new expanded Centurion Lounge location in DFW airport in early October, which will be located across from Gate D12 (near the Starbucks and Duty Free). We apologize for any inconvenience.

So where do I spend my layover?
American Express was kind enough to point out a few other options American Express Platinum cardholders have:

Minute Suites – Terminal D (1 hour free courtesy of Priority Pass)

Minute Suites – Terminal A (1 hour free courtesy of Priority Pass)

The Club at DFW – Terminal D (another lovely Priority Pass option)
- Delta Air Lines Delta Sky Club – Terminal E (You’ll need a Delta boarding pass to access this one, unless you have status with Delta Airlines.)
Although none of these options will compare to a Centurion Lounge, you do have some fallbacks to take advantage of. Note this isn’t an exhaustive list of lounges at Dallas/Fort Worth, just the lounges affiliated with American Express. Check out the airport’s website for more information. Since DFW is a major international airport, there are multiple American Airlines lounges, a United Lounge, and a number of lounges run by international carriers. Now all we need is a restaurant option at DFW!
Ultimately, the DFW Centurion Lounge delay isn’t a huge issue. We only have to wait a few extra weeks and we have alternatives. Until then, see you at The Club…which I’m sure is packed with the closure of the Centurion Lounge!)!

Is “The Club” open? Last I was there it was closed for renovation as well and there was a temporary location set up which had a handful of tables out in the open in a roped off area. Not even worth the effort of it really. The previous location was nice and quiet. Typical PP lounge as it was basic, but most of all, quiet and spacious which is the most important thing.
Any insight into why the Centurion won’t re-open? That one was a favorite of mine.
Looks like you’re right on The Club, not sure if it’s open yet or still waiting. Their temporary space doesn’t look too inviting!
I think the Centurion is just a victim of unforeseen construction hiccups, we don’t really know the details. Good news is, the new Centurion lounge will be bigger and better!
Having been to this Centurion lounge, I found it was very difficult to find. Once there I thought the place was very tight and hard to get around pulling a bag. I just don’t get the food options. It seems they just throw every spice into every dish. The Centurion lounge in PHL is even worse than DFW. It needs a huge expansion.
These are the only two I have been to and I just don’t get all the fuss over Centurion lounges.
