A few days ago I received an email offer for the United MileagePlus Explorer business Visa issued by Chase bank. Unlike the typical sign-up bonus that often hovers around 50,000 miles, the offer is for 50% more, a whopping 75,000 miles after spending $5,000 on your new card in the first three months .

This is a phenomenal offer for this card. I’ve previously picked up the personal version of the United MileagePlus Explorer card, but always for 50,000 miles. I’ve never held the business version.

This offer is targeted, based on the language in the email. Here is the direct link to the offer. I wouldn’t suggest applying if you aren’t a recipient of the email.

What about “Chase 5/24”?

Glad you asked. This is what makes me ineligible to take this offer. Even though Chase has “targeted” me with it, based on all the 5/24 data points, there is no way they’d approve me for the card. *sad trombone*

With business cards, the 5/24 rule gets a little confusing. All you need to know that it applies to this card, and some other business cards. If you have 5+ new accounts in 24 months, you are almost certainly not going to be approved. The other side of business cards is that if you pick up a business card with a different bank besides Chase, these sometimes don’t count as new accounts toward your new account tally.

If you’re targeted for this offer and are under 5/24, I applaud you. I’d absolutely pick up this card if I were you. It a huge bonus, and the annual fee is even waived the first year ($95 annually thereafter).

The email offer says to apply by October 8.
