If you hold any Amex charge card, you would know that Amex requires full payment each month.  However, Amex periodically offers select cardmembers the Extended Payment option, which allows full payment each month as well as payment over time (with interest). The offer is usually targeted, and often comes with 10,000 membership reward points just for enrolling!

Amex Extended Payment What is it?Last time I saw this offer was summer 2016. Dan wrote about it back then. I was targeted with 10,000 points to enroll my personal Platinum Card. I took the points, and never actually used this optional service as I always paid my balance off each month.

Last November I got a Business Platinum card for the second time using an upgrade offer targeted to me. Since then, I have been eyeing for an offer to enroll in the Extended Payment Option. I finally got it this past weekend! On Saturday morning, when I logged into my account, I was happy to see this offer popped up along with other Amex Offers:

Amex Extended Payment Offer

It only takes one click to enroll. There is no credit pull or any spending requirement. The choice of pay in full or over time is truly mine. As soon as I click the “Enroll” button, I received the confirmation. But interestingly, no email confirmation came.

On Monday morning, the 10,000 points showed up in my membership rewards account!

This is absolutely an easy way to add 10K Amex points without any effort. So if you have any Amex charge card that isn’t enrolled in the Extended Payment Option, check online and see if you receive the offer I just got! Never let any free points slip away.

If you didn’t get the offer online, you can chat with Amex online or call AmEx at 866-280-0566 and ask about it. You might be able to add the offer to your account.
