So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that today (and yesterday) is Amazon Prime Day.  Yes, I know that Prime “Day” lasts 36 hours but don’t blame me – blame Amazon!

We’ve covered several of the Amazon Prime Day 2018 deals already, but I wanted to point out one that I saw that I thought was interesting – the Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker and Rice Cooker

But wait… there’s more!  If you’re targeted for the 20% off Amazon promotion that’s going on, that seems to be taking 20% off of the ORIGINAL price ($99.95) which means that you can get it for $58.99 – $19.99 = an even $39.00! That’s over 60% off!

How to make awesome meals in your hotel room

Now I recognize that cooking in a hotel room is not for everyone, and generally I’m not THAT much of a penny pincher that I will force my wife into cooking dinner in our hotel room (though it does give me the chance to my favorite Onion article of all time).

But this can be something to keep in mind for places where food costs are extremely higher than normal (we did this at Disney World).  And of course, the more people you are cooking for, the more it might make sense – for us, even 8 times a small amount starts turning into a really big amount very quickly!

Here is our complete beginner’s guide to cooking in a hotel room and 4 rice cooker recipes for hotel room cooking.  We made spaghetti and chocolate cake in a rice cooker just like this one and they were quite delicious.

Gift cards are always a good option – there are mixed reports of people being able to buy $400 in Amazon gift cards for $100 off as long as they included at least $100 in either 3rd party gift cards or other merchandise sold by Amazon.com.  If you’re looking for travel gift cards, Southwest Airlines, AirBnB and Hotels.com are options.  Lowe’s and Safeway gift cards are also fairly popular

You can check the main Amazon Prime Day page or our list of Amazon Prime Day 2018 deals – remember that since the 20% is sometimes taking off of the ORIGINAL price, you can actually get more than 20% off the sale price.  So that may be a better deal – whatever works for you
