With the end of Amazon Payments last week, one way to still do some Manufactured Spending is to buy American Express gift cards online. Certain sites like BeFrugal, TopCashback, Big Crumbs, etc. offer a small amount of cash back on American Express gift cards. Currently, BigCrumbs is offering 1.2%, while BeFrugal and TopCashback are both offering 1.5% back.
BigCrumbs sent out an email last week saying that for one day only (Monday, October 20th)

Cash back is set to increase on Monday, October 20th and will only last for 24 hours. So, you’ll have one whole day to fulfill all of your holiday and business gift card needs.
It still remains to be seen what the rate will be. A few months ago, the rate got up to 4% for a limited time. Something like that would be amazing. I plan on waiting and seeing before pulling the trigger.
What to do with Amex Gift Cards?
Before you go crazy and buy the maximum daily limit ($5000), the important caveat is that these cards can NOT get set with a PIN, meaning they can NOT be loaded at Walmart, or used to buy money orders, etc. They work just like a credit card in most cases. Frequent Miler has the rundown on where you can and can not use these.
There are also some reports that Citi treats buying these as cash advances, so I would not recommend using a Citi card.
