Most airline fare sales are mostly marketing. The prices offered aren’t anything out of the ordinary; you can often find the same prices before or after the sale is over, and sometimes the fare sale doesn’t provide much of a discount or incentive to book.
But this recently announced fare sale from Southwest is somewhat different and is definitely worth checking out.
Southwest Week Of Wow Fare Sale – 50% Off!
Southwest has just announced a new “Big Deal ” Fare sale, with 50% off most travel

Here are the terms and conditions of this Southwest 50% off fare sale:
- Use promo code BIGDEAL by 7/10/2025 (so book before this Thursday)
- You must travel between August 4-December 17, 2025 for most flights
- The 50% discount applies to the base fare, and not to taxes and fees. This makes it slightly less than actually 50% off, but it’s still a good deal
- The promotion applies to Basic and Wanna Get Away Plus fares as well as using points
There are blackout dates
- Continental U.S. travel is blacked out November 21-26 and November 28-December 1, 2025.
- Continental U.S. travel to international, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico blacked out August 28-September 2 and November 20-24, 2025.
- Continental U.S. travel from international, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico blacked out August 28-September 2 and November 28-December 2, 2025
- Interisland Hawaii travel blacked out August 28-September 2, 2025.
The Bottom Line
This sale is good for both cash fares as well as for tickets booked through Rapid Rewards points. Keep in mind that the discount is advertised as “up to” 50%, and there isn’t an award chart, so having a sale with a percentage off isn’t exactly ideal. Still, in doing a bit of looking around, I was able to find some decent deals. This sale does give the opportunity to cancel or change a flight and rebook it, but keep in mind that Southwest’s flight credit policy is now more restrictive depending on the fare you purchase. Still, it is possible to change your flight and possibly save some money if your fares are lower now.

Not really amazing. Have 6 flights on SW coming up over the next 6 months, non of them over the holidays. not one of them qualified for the discount.
Good to recycle articles but check the dates under cancellation policy. You’re still in 2021.
2667 points ATL/LGA. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Same for the return flight. This is January.
I see under 6000 point flights LGA/LAS in March or $102.
This is late 2023 early 2024 travel.
