In 2025, for a conference I was attending, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center. This Hyatt Regency Portland review will give an idea of the different amenities and features of the hotel and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re looking for a Downtown Portland hotel.

Hyatt Regency Portland location
The Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center is located at 375 NE Holladay Street, Portland, OR 97232. It is directly across the street from the Oregon Convention Center in East Portland. There is also a MAX Light Rail stop right in front of the hotel, making it very easy to get from Portland PDX Airport to Downtown Portland, including the hotel. Note that you do get 2 TriMet transit passes with your stay (included with your $25 destination fee, see below). So while you can’t use them to GET to the hotel, you could use them to get around and/or to get back to the airport after your stay.

Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center cost
In this case, I was attending a conference at the nearby Oregon Convention Center, so I wanted to stay at the convention hotel, which is why I booked this particular hotel. I have heard a few reports of Hyatt afficionados that the Hyatt Centric is better, but in my case, the location could not be beat.
The Hyatt Regency Portland is a Category 3 hotel, which means it costs 12,000 points per night, which is how I paid. As you can see below, this gives pretty good value compared to the cash cost.

Note that there is also a $25 “destination fee” that you’ll also have to pay each night, which comes with the following benefits.

You can check prices for your nights at the Hyatt Regency Portland at Hotels.com. You can also read Hyatt Regency Portland reviews at TripAdvisor.
Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center review – room
I booked a 1 king bedroom. The beds and pillows were comfortable enough.

Here is the other side of the room with the TV. There is a small desk in the corner of the room.

There is some storage near the front of the room

This includes a “cooler” which is specifically NOT a mini-fridge and is labeled as “Not for Medication Storage”. They will rent you a fridge for $40 / night
(SEE ALSO: Why Does This Hyatt Offer “Coolers” Instead Of “Mini Fridges” (Yup, it’s a Scam))

The bathroom was small but functional. The shower had good temperature and pressure.

One interesting feature of the room is that it had motion-activated floor lights that would come on in the middle of the night if for example you had to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the light, so you didn’t have to turn the regular lights on.

I was saying on a Guest of Honor certificate, which means that at least for this stay I was a top-tier Globalist member. When I asked about upgrades to a suite, I was told that I had been upgraded to a “View Room” (despite there being suites available for purchase). Here you can see my “amazing” view

Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center wifi speed
Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms for World of Hyatt members. The Hyatt Regency Portland wifi speed was quite fast and I had no issues using it.

Hyatt Regency Portland amenities
There is a fitness center on the 3rd floor that is quite large

There are also several different conference and meeting rooms on the 2nd floor. I did not see a pool nor a business center, though it’s possible / likely that there was a computer and printer somewhere at the hotel.
Hyatt Regency Portland Regency Club
There is a Hyatt Regency Portland Regency Club on the 3rd floor, but sadly, it closed down for COVID and has not reopened. This is part of a disappointing trend where hotels look to eliminate these types of executive lounges as a cost-savings measure.

Hyatt Regency Portland hotel review – parking
The Hyatt Regency Portland does not have complimentary parking. Instead, self parking is $35 per night and valet parking is $45 per night. I did not have a car during my stay (having taken the MAX train from the airport).
Hyatt Regency Portland food
Breakfast is not complimentary at the Hyatt Regency Portland, however as someone staying as a Guest of Honor, I did get my breakfast included for each night of my stay.

I opted for the breakfast buffet on the only day of my stay where I had breakfast. The other days, I had other plans and so did not eat breakfast at the hotel.

One other perk that I took advantage of was the daily $15 credit at the in-hotel Spoke & Fork restaurant, which is in the lobby. This benefit is part of the $25 / night destination fee that is charged, though as a Globalist (technically Guest of Honor), I didn’t have to pay the $25 fee, so this was like getting $15 for free.

There were a variety of options to choose from.

Each night, I ordered the Bridgetown Smash Burger and fries to go from the bar, which I ate in my room. The $15 credit covered most of the $18 cost of the meal.

There is also a small market off the lobby that sells some food and other small items.

The Bottom Line – Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center review
If you are looking for a good Portland hotel, I thought that the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center had several things going for it. It was very easy to get to from the highway (or airport), and the price was decent. I think the Hyatt Regency Portland could be a great option if you’re looking for a Downtown Portland hotel.
