I read a fair amount, but usually in a variety of different genres. I recently was recommended the book Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty, and I LOVED it. My wife recommended it to me and she was excited, because I am notoriously hard to recommend things to. She said that it didn’t LOOK like a book that I would enjoy, but she thought that it was interesting and that I’d enjoy it. So I gave it a shot – I listened to the audiobook version

Here One Moment

The opening section of the book is set on an airplane flight from Hobart, Tasmania to Sydney. All is going fairly normally, until one of the passengers starts going down the aisle, predicting an age of death and cause of death for everyone on the plane. Some are well into the future (“103 years old, heart failure”), but others are much closer to happening (“7 years old, drowning”).

Most passengers don’t think too much of it, until the predictions start coming true.

Other Reviews

I didn’t read any other reviews of the book until I had finished it and declared that it was one of my favorite books I’ve ever read (well… listened to). I was a bit surprise that the reviews on Goodreads were a bit mixed. There were plenty of positive reviews, but also a few from people that didn’t enjoy the book, which surprised me.

I resonated with this one, which is on the Amazon listing page.

“A riveting story so wild you don’t know how she’ll land it, and then she does, on a dime.”

The Bottom Line

Here One Moment is a book by Liane Moriarty featuring a passenger on an Australian flight predicting the age and cause of death of every other passenger. I found the premise interesting, the writing hilarious, and the way it all came together at the end was satisfying.
