In 2025, as part of a trip with my son’s Scout troop to Northern Tier, I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express American Fork / North Provo. This Holiday Inn Express American Fork / North Provo review will give an idea of the different amenities and features of the hotel and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re looking for a Utah County hotel.

Holiday Inn Express American Fork / North Provo location
The Holiday Inn Express American Fork / North Provo is located at 712 South Utah Valley Dr American Fork, Utah 84003. It’s located right off of I-15 in the town of American Fork, Utah. It should be said that although this hotel bills itself as “North Provo”, it would NOT be considered “North Provo” by anyone who is familiar with the area. In our case, we were actually wanting to stay in American Fork, so it works for us. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from BYU, if that’s why you’re in town. American Fork is about 20-30 minutes north of Provo, so it can work as a Provo hotel depending on where in Provo you’re going.

Holiday Inn Express American Fork cost
We were looking for a cheap American Fork / Provo hotel, but didn’t want to stay in the absolute cheapest hotel out there. Originally I had booked this with points, since we were staying for 4 nights. It was a total of 65,000 IHG points, but then I saw that the cash price was around $100 after taxes. I had the $300 travel credit from my Capital One Venture X card, so I booked it through the Capital One travel portal.

Holiday Inn Express American Fork review – room
We booked a “2 queen” room. The beds and pillows were comfortable enough.

Here is the other side of the room, with a desk and TV

The bathroom was small but functional. The shower had good temperature and pressure.
Holiday Inn Express American Fork wifi and amenities
Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms. The Holiday Inn Express American Fork wifi speed was decent and I had no issues using it, though I forgot to get a screenshot of the speed.
There is a computer and printer out in the lobby (no separate business center)

There is an indoor pool as well.

There is a small fitness center. One quibble my wife had from the fitness center was that the dumbbells were incredibly heavy – she said there was nothing smaller than 25 pounds.

They have an exterior gazebo which could be a nice place to enjoy the outdoors, depending on the weather

Holiday Inn Express American Fork hotel review – parking
The Holiday Inn Express American Fork does have complimentary parking, which was plentiful. We had decided not to get a rental car, so we didn’t have a car ourselves, but I always saw plenty of room in the parking lot for cars.
Holiday Inn Express American Fork food
Breakfast is complimentary at the Holiday Inn Express American Fork – it’s served in a small breakfast area right off the lobby.

There were several hot dishes and a pancake maker.

And of course Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls
One thing that I had not seen before was this sign, specifically mentioning not to fill up water bottles with juice. And in fact, they were so strict about it that when I tried to use a COFFEE cup instead of the smaller plastic juice cups, I was told by the breakfast attendant that I could not do that

There is a market with various food and other items near the lobby. Conveniently, there is also a microwave there that is free to use – we used it to reheat our leftover pizza.

The prices are of course super expensive

The Bottom Line – Holiday Inn Express American Fork / North Provo review
If you are looking for a cheap Provo or American Fork Utah hotel, I thought that the Holiday Inn Express American Fork had several things going for it. It was very easy to get to from the highway (or airport), and the price was decent. I think the Holiday Inn Express American Fork could be a great option if you’re looking for a Provo Utah hotel.
