I’ve written before about WOW Air, and their low-cost flights from the US to Europe.  They currently only fly out of Boston and Baltimore / Washington (BWI), and all flights go to Iceland, before continuing on to other places like London or Amsterdam.

Their gimmick is $99 fares from the US to Europe, and they are back!

Searching on Google Flights

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a lot easier to search these deals on Google Flights.  Here’s an example search from Boston to Reykjavik in September / October.  You can click that link and then adjust your origin, destination, or time to find one that works for you

The fares that show up as $109 or $110 in Google Flights DO price out at $99 on WOW’s website – so you can see that there are still a few dates there with really cheap fares.

The other thing to be aware of is that WOW is a low-cost carrier, so you’re going to likely pay for things like luggage (even a carryon costs $29 if it’s more than 5 kilos), seat selection and other things. So your $99 fare isn’t going to ACTUALLY be $99. Return flights leaving Iceland are slightly more expensive, so if I were going to do this, I’d consider using miles to go back from Iceland to the US, depending on my flight cost.

Also flying from Boston is the only way I got $99 fares – flights from Baltimore were more expensive.

What do you think? Have you gotten in any of these ultra-cheap fares to Iceland or beyond?
