We have talked a bit before about the feature of the Wyndham Rewards program where you can now book Vacasa vacation rentals for 15,000 points per bedroom per night. This can unlock immense value from Wyndham points.

It’s a bit of a process to book it, so I thought I’d write a bit of a guide on how to do it. Our family has used this Wyndham / Vacasa partnership a few times. First was in the summer of 2021, when we took a 5-day stay at an amazing vacation rental in the Smoky Mountains for 67,500 Wyndham points. The cash cost on the vacation rental would have been more than $2,000.

That’s more than 3 cents per point in value from a Wyndham point, which was an amazing redemption. Sadly, Wyndham has slightly devalued the Vacasa relationship since our first booking in 2021, but I still think you can make the case that Wyndham Rewards is the best Capital One Venture Miles transfer partner.

Using Wyndham Rewards Points to Book Vacasa Vacation Rentals

On the surface, using Wyndham Rewards points to book Vacasa vacation rentals is fairly straightforward. The cost in points depends on the total cost of the Vacasa booking, divided

  • Less than $250 per bedroom per night: It costs 15,000 points per bedroom per night
  • From $250.01 to $500 per bedroom per night: It costs 30,000 points per bedroom per night
  • Over $500 per bedroom per night: Wyndham points cannot be used

Additionally, if you have one of the Wyndham Earner credit cards, you get a 10% discount on these redemptions, making the cost 13,500 or 27,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to use Wyndham Rewards to book Vacasa vacation rentals online, so you need to call 800-441-1034 to book the Vacasa stay. This is a dedicated phone line for Wyndham / Vacasa reservations. Note that originally you could email to book, but that is no longer the case – you must call to book. It takes between 10 to 15 minutes in my experience.

Finding the Right Vacation Rental

Finding the right vacation rental on Vacasa is not an issue. Simply go to Vacasa.com and do a search. I would suggest putting in a filter for 1 bedroom, and then however many guests you’re planning on having. Here’s what it looks like for 1 bedroom with 6 guests:

If you have specific dates, you can put those in there. Otherwise, leave the dates empty to get an idea of what vacation rentals are out there. Then you’ll want to pick a specific house. You can easily select different properties, read reviews, look at pictures, check out information for each rental, and see which dates they are available. Many vacation rentals have specific length stays (2 or 3 night minimum), and you can see that as well.

You’ll also see the price listed. As mentioned above, ideally you want that total cost (inclusive of all taxes and fees) to be under $250 / night. That will ensure that you get the lowest price for your booking.

How to Book Vacasa Vacation Rentals With Wyndham Rewards Points

As I mentioned earlier, you can’t book Vacasa vacation rentals with Wyndham Rewards points online – instead, you’ll need to call 800-441-1034 to book the Vacasa stay. This is a dedicated phone line for Wyndham / Vacasa reservations. Note that originally you could email to book, but that is no longer the case – you must call to book. It takes between 10 to 15 minutes in my experience.

You will confirm your Wyndham account details like the phone number and address on the account. Once you give them your Vacasa booking information, you’ll shortly get a confirmation email from Vacasa and you’ll be ready for your trip! There is a 30-day cancellation policy, and if you book within 30 days of the stay, the reservation is non-cancellable.

Using Wyndham Credit Cards to Get a Rental for Even Cheaper

15,000 points for a vacation rental is already a pretty great deal, but you can get it even cheaper using one of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards.

All three of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards give you a 10% discount on Wyndham award stays. That’s why our 5 night stay cost 67,500 points instead of 75,000 points. So these Wyndham credit cards are great as a source of Wyndham Rewards points as well as getting you 10% back on your stay. I got the Wyndham Business credit card and plan to keep it after the annual fee posts. The 15,000 points you get for your anniversary are worth significantly more to me than the $99 annual fee.

The Bottom Line

Where this becomes an even more amazing deal is that there is a wide variety of what constitutes a “1 bedroom” vacation rental. The cabin we stayed at in Gatlinburg is a “1 bedroom” but SLEEPS TEN! Now, it would be a mildly uncomfortable 10 people if you had five couples, but for a family or family reunion, it would be definitely doable. We also got a 2 bedroom condo in Maui for 27,000 points per night and most recently stayed in an oceanfront condo in Myrtle Beach for 4 nights for only 54,000 points.

Check out the available listings on Vacasa and book your next trip for an amazing deal.
